Automotive
Emotion meets innovation
The motor vehicle of the
future will be networked. Developments over the coming years will drastically
alter our driving habits. The navigation and hence the interaction of the
vehicle with the navigation map and the information it stores will play a major
role in all contemplations on the subject. Traffic routing and speed and radar
checks will all form an important basis for new advanced driving assistance
systems (ADAS) and the influence of these systems on driving safely and
economically.
As the
performance of mobile devices increases and internet connection charges
decrease, the internet is becoming more and more attractive for use in
motorised vehicles. The vehicles themselves will become the internet users.
Smartphones display current route sections using turn-by-turn navigation and
provide information on interesting Location Based Services in the vicinity, and
their proximity. They are also becoming more user-friendly. In future
navigation can be started directly from the internet without further need to
input destinations.
As a partner of the
Fraunhofer Institute and the University RWTH Aachen, LOGIBALL is also intensely
involved in these research activities which particularly affect the automobile
sector. In addition, LOGIBALL develops highly precise and detailed navigation
maps which forms the basis for the development of new innovative services. Our Map Engineering team relies on a special vehicle equipped
with flying robots as well as highly efficient measurement technology
and processing tools from LOGIBALL.
With this, we are able to measure test and research areas and directly process the data into precise routable navigation maps in various formats. All with a position
accuracy of up to two centimeters. LOGIBALL has developed software – the GND SUITE –
which is the ideal tool for developing new navigation services derived from of
a data base of information which is itself capable of learning.
